Family Ischnuridae
Narrow-Winged or Pond Damselflies

The Order Odonata comprises dragonflies and damselflies, aquatic insects known for their elongated bodies, large multifaceted eyes, and two pairs of strong, transparent wings. They are skilled predators both in their larval stage (aquatic nymphs) and as adults, feeding on mosquitoes, flies, and other small insects. Odonates undergo incomplete metamorphosis, with nymphs living in freshwater habitats before emerging as winged adults. They are important indicators of healthy aquatic ecosystems and play a key role in controlling insect populations. Their agile flight, vibrant colors, and predatory behavior make them ecologically and visually remarkable insects.
