Habitat:
This species inhabits forests, and has not been found outside forested areas. It is unknown whether it will tolerate any habitat loss or disturbance (Zheng Y. pers. comm. September 2021). It breeds in pools and slow-flowing waters where the larvae also develop.

Range:
This species is known only from Dayaoshan, Pingnan and Longsheng in Guangxi province, China, between 1,200–1,640 m asl. It may occur more widely, but further surveys are required to confirm this (Zheng Y. pers. comm. September 2021). It occurs in 10 or fewer threat-defined locations, and its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 14,771 km2.

This species occurs in several nature reserves, including the Dayaoshan National Nature Reserve and Huaping National Nature Reserve.

Improved habitat protection is required. 

Research Needed
Taxonomic work is required to determine whether this species should be synonymised with Bombina microdeladigitora (Zheng Y. pers. comm. September 2021). Further research on its distribution and population is required.
