Habitat:
This species inhabits marshes in forested, mountainous areas, and has been found at forest edges (Y.Zheng pers. comm. September 2021). It is unknown whether it tolerates habitat loss or disturbance (Y Zheng pers. comm. September 2021). It breeds in pools where the larvae also develop.

Range:
This species is known only from Beiyang, Lichuan in Hubei Province and Mabian County in Sichuan Province, China, at around 1,830–2,000 m asl. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between the two known sites, but further surveys are needed to confirm this. It occurs in two threat-defined locations, and its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 11,433 km2.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
This species occurs in Dafengding National Nature Reserve (Y. Zheng pers. comm. September 2021). The subpopulation of this species in Hubei Province is probably within Lichuanxiaoheshuisha Nature Reserve.

Conservation Needed
Improved habitat protection is required.

Research Needed
Taxonomic work is required to determine whether this species should be synonymised with Bombina microdeladigitora (Y. Zheng pers. comm. September 2021). Further research on its distribution and population is required.
