Habitat:
It occurs in lowland primary and secondary rainforests, and sub-Andean forests, on vegetation next to streams. It lays its eggs on the lower surface of leaves and when hatched the larvae fall into the stream below.
Range:
This species is known from the western slopes of the Cordillera Occidental and eastern slope of the Cordillera Central in the departments of Chocó, Risaralda, Antioquia, and Valle del Cauca, in Colombia. It also occurs in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Imbabura in Ecuador (Bustamante et al. 2007), and from the eastern cordilleras in southern Darién Province in Panama (Samudio et al. 2015; R. Ibañez, M. Ponce and D. Medina August 2019). Recent records have confirmed it in the municipality of Cocorná, Antioquia Department (Alzate 2016) and the Magdelena River Valley (Restrepo et al. 2017) in Colombia. It occurs between 45-1,600 m asl.

Its range includes Parque Nacional de Las Orquídeas, Parque Nacional Natural Farallones de Cali, and San Carlos Hydroelectric protected area in Colombia, and Parque Nacional Darién in Panama.
