Habitat:
This species inhabits seepages on exposed granitic rocky outcrops and rocky forest stream banks in the Atlantic Forest biome. It lives on wet rock walls near streams or waterfalls. The egg clutch is deposited in rock fissures. Tadpoles develop on the film of water from seepages and streams. The species feeds mostly on invertebrates, especially ants, beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars, and spiders (Siqueira et al. 2006).

Range:

This Brazilian endemic species is known from south-eastern Bahia, eastern Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and eastern São Paulo states. It also occurs on virtually every island near the mainland of São Paulo. Its elevational range is 0–1,300 m asl.
