Habitat:
This species inhabits karst caves in mountain habitats, and sub-tropical forests. Breeding takes place in springs and stream pools inside the karst caves (B. Wang pers. comm. June 2019).
The generation length of this species is estimated to be around three years.

Range:
This species is known from Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Chongqing, and Hunan provinces in central China, between 500–2,000 m asl (B. Wang pers. comm. June 2019).
