Habitat:
This species inhabits and breeds in small hill streams, low-gradient spring-fed streams, and low-gradient medium-sized streams. The surrounding habitats are a mosaic of alpine meadows and forests. A female adult toad and a male adult toad were found in the stream of Jiangda Spring, Tibet, where they lived under big rocks beside the stream. It breeds by larval development.
Range:
This species is only known from Garze County, in northwestern Sichuan Province, and Jiangda, in eastern Xizang Province, China, between 3,300–3,500 m asl (F. Xie pers. comm. June 2019).

It is on the "List of Beneficial or of Important Economic or Scientific Value Terrestrial Wild Animals under States Protection", under the protection of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlife", which provides a moderate degree of protection and makes it illegal to collect (China Red List Assessment Workshop June 2019).

Survey work is needed to determine whether or not this species still survives in the wild. Taxonomic research is also suggested for this species (F. Xie pers. comm. June 2019).
