Habitat:
This species lives close to villages in secondary vegetation and in small streams fringed by dense shrubs. It breeds under rocks in streams. Adult toads are mostly found in small, densely vegetated mountain streams and nearby forests. They often hide under rocks or in soil caves on banks during the day, and at night they live on rocks on banks or streams. Female toads lay about 505 eggs, and the eggs are circular and adhere to the bottom of stones (Fei et al. 2012). Tadpoles are small in number and often inhabit rocks in streams (Fei et al. 2012).

Range:
This species is only known from Pingwu County in north-eastern Sichuan Province, and Wenxian County in southern Gansu Province, China, between 2,100-2,200 m asl. It occurs in five or fewer threat-defined locations, and its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 4,282 km2.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
The range of this species overlaps several reserves, including Wanglang Nature Reserve (F. Xie pers. comm. June 2019).

Conservation Needed
