Habitat:
This species inhabits areas of sandy, gravelly, or soft, light soils in wooded or unwooded terrain; sandy open woodland and savannah, mesquite scrub (Bartlett and Bartlett 1999). It burrows underground when inactive. Eggs and larvae develop in temporary pools formed by heavy rains. It is unclear as to whether or not it is tolerant of habitat disturbance.

Range:
This species occurs in central and eastern Oklahoma, western and central Arkansas, eastern and southern Texas, and northwestern Louisiana in the United States of America (Conant and Collins 1991). Given the proximity of its range to Mexico it is possible that it may also occur in this country, although this needs to be verified.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
