Habitat:
This species inhabits the forest floor litter of montane and lowland rainforests. It breeds and lays its eggs in tree holes.

Range:
This species is known from Mindanao, Leyte, Bohol, Samar and Basilan Islands in the Philippines, between 870–1,430 m asl. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between known sites.

Some subpopulations of this species are protected in national parks.

There remains a need for improved protection of remaining forested habitats on Mindanao and Bohol.
