Habitat:
This Mindanao endemic shrub frog inhabits arboreal microhabitats in mossy and montane rainforests, and has not been found outside forests. It calls from a variety of perches in primary forests (Sanguila et al. 2016). It breeds by direct development.

Range:
This species is known from montane forests of eastern Mindanao (Brown and Alcala 1994, Plaza and Sanguila 2015) to the more central high elevation forests of Mt. Lumot to Mt. Malingdang of western Mindanao (Nuñeza et al. 2010), Mt. Sinaka of southern Minanao (Ates and Delima 2008), and southern Leyte Island in the Philippines (Philippines Red List Assessment Workshop May 2017). It has been recorded from 1,500–2,000 m asl. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between known sites, however available data suggest the species is limited to relatively smaller areas of occurrence towards the higher elevation reaches of montane habitats (Sanguila et al. 2016).

Conservation:
Conservation Actions
This species range includes several protected areas, including Mount Malindang National Park.

Conservation Needed
Improved protection of the remaining montane rainforest of Mindanao is needed.

Research Needed
More information is needed on this species' distribution, population status, and trends. Additional taxonomic research is recommended in light of the cryptic species present in this complex.
