Habitat:

It is a nocturnal, arboreal species. It occurs in semi-deciduous premontane moist and cloud forests, and evergreen forest of the Cordillera de la Costa and Sierra de Aroa in Venezuela (Manzanilla et al. 1995, Lotzkat 2007). Individuals of this species have been found on vegetation (particularly bromeliads) at night (Manzanilla et al. 1995). Lotzkat (2007) sighted a specimen apparently feeding on ants. It is a direct developing species.

Range:
This species was described by Trapido in 1942 using a single specimen collected in the vicinity of the Borburata River Valley in Carabobo state. It has now been observed at 11 localities along the central portion of the Cordillera de la Costa (Aragua and Carabobo, states), west to the Nirgua massif, and Sierra de Aroa, both in Yaracuy state, Venezuela (Trapido 1942, Manzanilla et al. 1995, Barrio-Amorós 1999, Lotzkat 2007, GBIF 2019). The documented localities range between 400-1,100 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is only 8,124 km2.

Conservation:

Conservation Actions In-Place
There are no conservation measures specifically aimed at this species but it is known to occur in three protected areas: Parque Nacional Henri Pittier (Aragua state), Parque Nacional San Esteban (Carabobo state), and Reserva Ecológica Privada La Guáquira (Yaracuy state).

Conservation Needed
It is necessary to enforce park boundaries and its land use restrictions.

Research Needed
Further research is needed to determine its population size and trends, threats and ecology.
