Habitat:
This arboreal species inhabits tropical humid lowland forest. Its tolerance to habitat disturbance is unknown. Breeding is by direct development.

Range:
This species is found in the eastern lowlands of Comarca Guna Yala (San Blas), Panama (Wake et al. 1973, Batista et al. 2014). It occurs at elevations ranging between 10–718 m asl. It is possible that it may occur between known sites, but it is not expected to occur more widely (Panama Red List Assessment Workshop August 2019). Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 1,506 km2, which represents five or fewer threat-defined locations.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
This species does not occur in any protected areas.

Conservation Needed
Proactive, precautionary steps should be taken to detect the arrival of Bsal in Panama and to establish a baseline by including the swabbing of salamanders encountered during routine amphibian monitoring activities in this country (Panama Red List Assessment Workshop 2019).

Research Needed
Further taxonomic research is needed to determine the validity of this species (Batista et al. 2014). More information is needed on this species' distribution, population status, ecology, and threats.
