Habitat:

It is a nocturnal, arboreal species that lives in cloud forests. Specimens have been found under rocks close to streams and inside epiphytic bromeliads, usually near streams (Schargel et al. 2002). One specimen was found in the stomach of an adult male of Erythrolamprus zweifeli collected on the road Potreritos de Cendé to Miquimú, Municipio Carache, Trujillo state (Esqueda et al. 2009). It is a direct developing species.

Range:
This species is known from three localities between 1,900-2,400 m asl, on the Macizo de Guaramacal massif and from the basin of Cendé River, northern Cordillera de Mérida, in Trujillo state, Venezuela (Schargel et al. 2002). Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 829 km2.

Conservation:

Conservation Actions In-Place
There are no conservation measures specifically aimed at this species, but it occurs in the “General Cruz Carrillo” (also known as Guaramacal) National Park and possibly in Dinira National Park.

Conservation Needed
It is necessary to enforce park boundaries and its land use restrictions.

Research Needed
Further research is needed to determine its population size and trends, threats and ecology.
