Habitat:

This species inhabits pine-oak forest. Individuals have been collected from bromeliads and orchids during the dry season, but one was collected in the month of July from beneath a rock and in leaf-litter (Campbell et al. 2010, R. Morales pers. comm. August 2019). It presumably lays eggs that undergo direct development.

Range:
This species is known from the extreme eastern portion of the Guatemalan Plateau, including the highlands bordering the western side of Guatemala City and near Antigua (Campbell et al. 2010, S. Rovito, G. Ruano-Fajardo, C. Vásquez-Almazán pers. comm. August 2019). It has been recorded at elevations from 1,690 to 1,850 m asl (Campbell et al. 2010). It could occur more widely in suitable habitat. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) based on its known range is 773 km2, which represents five or fewer threat-defined locations.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
It occurs in Reserva Protectora Mantianles Cerro Alux and Parque Nacional Volcán de Pacaya.

Conservation Needed
Improved enforcement and management of protected areas will be important for maintaining critical forest habitat within the range.

Research Needed
More information is needed on this species' population status, life history and threats.
