Habitat:
This nocturnal, arboreal species inhabits the underbrush of primary tropical moist forest close to streams. It has also been observed in secondary forest, forest edges, and forest where logging activities are taking place (G. Chaves Portilla and G. Gonzalez pers. comm. December 2018). It has been collected at night from vegetation alongside streams, up to 2 m above the ground (Acosta-Galvis and Restrepo 2001, Acosta-Galvis and Gutiérrez-Lamus 2012). The reproduction pattern is seasonal and breeding is by direct development.

Range:
This species was formerly only known from its type locality, but is now known to be more widespread. It is distributed in Antioquia, Boyacá, Caldas, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Santander, and Cesár Departments of Colombia, along the Eastern and Central Cordillera at 145-1,100 m asl (Acosta-Galvis and Restrepo 2001, Acosta-Galvis 2004, Acosta-Galvis 2007, Acosta-Galvis and Gutiérrez-Lamus 2012). It was erroneously recorded as B. altamazonica in the Muzo area by Brame and Wake (1963).

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
This species occurs in several protected areas across its range, including Reserva Natural Privada Riomanso, Serrania de los Yariguies Integrated Management Regional District, Ranita Dorada ProAves Reserve, and Parque Nacional Natural Selva Florencia.

Research Needed
Taxonomic work is needed to determine if this form is a complex of more than one species. Studies on its distribution, population, and ecology are also needed.
