Habitat:
The species is found under bark on the ground and stone piles in mixed pine/oak forests, and in red banana tree leaves within shady coffee plantations in the lowlands. It breeds by direct development and is not dependent upon water.

Range:
This species is found along the Pacific coast of the Sierra Madre del Sur in Oaxaca, in the surroundings of San Miguel Suchitexpec and San Gabriel Mixtepec, between San Gabriel Mixtepec and Pochutla. It occurs mainly between 550-1,860 m asl, but can be found up to 2,500 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 4,756 km2, its area of occupancy (AOO) is 4,345 km2, and all individuals are considered to occur at five or fewer threat-defined locations.

This species has not been recorded in any protected areas. It is protected by Mexican law under the "Special Protection" category (Pr).

There is a need for improved maintenance and protection of pine-oak forests in the Sierra Madre del Sur.

Further research is required into its population size and trends, and monitoring of the population status is needed.
