Habitat:

This is a nocturnal, semi-arboreal species that lives in cloud forests, some with introduced plant species (Pinus sp., Eucalyptus sp. and several species of Euphorbiaceae). Individuals have been found in the surroundings of cascades and on leaves of a Begonia sp. (Enrique La Marca pers. comm. 2020) or on fern fronds (Javier García and Moisés Escalona, unpublished data). Specimens found during the day, were observed under moist moss or within rotten moist logs along the edge of trails (García-Gutiérrez et al. 2013, Luis Niño Barreat, pers. comm. 2020). A female dissection suggested brood sizes of ca 50 eggs. Its diet includes ants, pseudoscorpions, spiders, acari, beetles and isopods (Díaz de Pascual et al. 2010). It is a direct developing species.

Range:

This species is known from La Mucuy, Sierra Nevada National Park in the Sierra Nevada of Mérida state, in Venezuela. Its known elevational range is from 1,870 to 2,500 m asl. Its estimated extent of occurrence is 106 km2.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
There are no conservation measures specifically aimed at this species, but its geographic distribution is almost entirely contained within the Sierra Nevada National Park.

Conservation needed
It is necessary to enforce park boundaries and its land use restrictions.

Research needed
Further research is needed to determine its population size and trends, threats, ecology and monitoring both habitat and populations.
