Habitat:
It is a terrestrial species that is found in low vegetation in riverine forest areas within tropical montane cloud forest. The authors of the species' description documented this species from dry forest, but this genus of salamanders do not inhabit this habitat type (G. Chaves pers. comm. December 2018). It breeds by direct development.

Range:
This species was formerly only known from the vicinity of the type locality: Municipio de Pandi in Cundinamarca Department, Colombia, at 1,300 m asl. Since the 2004 assessment, a specimen 75 km north of the type locality near the municipality of Albán (Hanken and Wake 1982) and a single specimen from San Francisco, Supatá have been confirmed as belonging to this species (Acosta and Gutierrez 2012); and additional specimens collected from Vereda San Marcos, Monterey, and Reserva Cuzcungos, Supatá are also thought to belong to this species (Del Río et al. 2014, T. Angarita Sierra pers. comm. February 2019, Angarita Sierra et al. in press). Moreover, recent collections from the municipalities of Villeta and Guaduas have been identified as this species, extending its geographical range by 96.5 km northwest from the type-locality (T. Angarita Sierra pers. comm. February 2019; Angarita Sierra et al. in press). It is now known to occur at elevations from 1,300–2,315 m asl. It is likely to occur a little more widely than is currently known. The extent of occurrence (EOO) of its currently known range is 2,529 km2 and it occurs in four or fewer threat-defined locations.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
It occurs in Reserve Cuzcungos (Angarita-Sierra et al. in press).

Conservation Needed
Habitat protection is required at sites where this species is known to occur.

Research Needed
Further research is needed to better understand the full geographic range of this species, as well as, its population status, natural history, and threats.
