Habitat:
This species lives in tropical lowland forest, but it has been found in disturbed habitats, presumably due to the level of human impact on natural habitats within its range. It has been collected at night on low vegetation but it is possible that the species is confined to limestone outcrops, which is the habitat it was first recorded in, however this is not known for certain (P.A. Caballero pers. comm. July 2016). It reproduces by direct development.

Range:
This species is known from a few localities all in southern Mexico, in the western part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, extreme southern Veracruz and extreme north-eastern Oaxaca. It is found up to 500 m asl. It occurs in five or fewer threat-defined locations and its extent of occurrence (EOO) is 3,084 km2.

Conservation:
Conservation Action
This species occurs in Los Chimalapas, which is poorly protected. In 2014 this species was recorded in a communal protected area in Santa MarĂa Chimalapas, Oaxaca. This area is an extension of conserved forest, however the expansion of livestock farming and the conversion of abandoned agricultural lands into artificial pasturelands is a threat to this area (P.A. Caballero pers. comm. July 2016). This species is protected by Mexican law under the "Special Protection" category (Pr).

Conservation Needed
Additional and improved habitat protection is needed.

Research Needed
Further research in to population size, distribution and ecology is required.
