Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
Its range includes several protected areas. It is known to breed in captivity in zoos in Australia. The species has been designated as Near Threatened in the Japanese Red List.
Conservation Needed
Mass collections of wild individuals needs to be prohibited immediately.
Research Needed
High genetic and morphological variation has been reported in this species, and the species includes several distinct lineages that warrant species status. Actual habitat segregation and hybridization should be quickly studied before local extinction.
