Habitat:
The species breeds on coastal freshwater lakes, but otherwise occurs along rocky coastlines and shingle beaches, generally with substantial offshore kelp beds (Kear 2005).
Range:
Occurs in coastal Chile and Argentina, with a separate subspecies occurring on the Falkland Islands.
