Habitat:
It inhabits open thornbush savanna and Commiphora woodland, typically at elevations below 1,400 metres (Kemp and Boesman 2020, Stevenson and Fanshawe 2020).

Range:
The species occurs from Eritrea, eastern Sudan, Djibouti, and Somalia, extending south through Ethiopia, South Sudan, north-eastern Uganda, and Kenya to north-eastern Tanzania (Poonswad et al. 2013).

No targeted conservation actions are known. The species occurs in numerous protected areas within its range (Protected Planet 2025).
