The Family Psittacidae includes the true parrots, such as macaws, African greys, amazons, conures, and parakeets. These birds are strong, colorful, and highly intelligent, with a distinctive curved beak adapted for cracking nuts and seeds. They are social and often live in flocks, using complex vocalizations for communication, and many species are capable of mimicking human speech. Psittacids are mostly tropical and subtropical, feeding on fruits, seeds, nuts, and sometimes nectar. Their advanced cognitive abilities, strong pair bonds, and striking plumage make them ecologically important as seed dispersers and culturally significant in aviculture.
