Offline Antilocapra americana Pronghorn Antellope -----
The family Antilocapridae, in the order Artiodactyla, includes a single extant species commonly known as the pronghorn (Antilocapra americana). Native to North America, pronghorns are renowned for their exceptional speed, capable of sustained running at over 55 km/h (34 mph), which helps them evade predators in open plains and grasslands. Unlike true antelopes, pronghorns have unique forked horns that they shed and regrow annually, and they exhibit distinct social behaviors, forming herds for protection and migration. They are herbivorous, primarily grazing on grasses and forbs, and play an important ecological role by influencing plant community dynamics and serving as prey for large carnivores.
