Habitat:
The habitat and ecology of the insectivorous Hesperoptenus gaskelli is largely unknown as it has only been encountered one time. A single specimen was captured at the edge of primary forest in a small clearing.
Range:
Limited survey efforts in Sulawesi have only documented this species from the type locality Morowali Nature Reserve Ranu Ri, Sulawesi (01°51'S, 121°30'E), Indonesia (Le Saout et al. 2013). It is inferred to be a low elevation species with a distribution up to 500 m asl.
Conservation:
The species has been only documented within Morowali Nature Reserve in central Sulawesi, Indonesia (Le Saout et al. 2013). Timely and comprehensive research is warranted to established its distribution, population status and trends, threats, and ecology.
