Habitat:
This species inhabits the understorey of dipterocarp forest (Payne et al. 1985). It is found also in lowland and secondary forest (A. Suyanto pers. comm). Recorded in swamp and heath forest in Central Kalimantan by Struebig et al. (2006). Kumaran et al. (2006) caught single individual at elevation of about 1,000 m asl in Sarawak, Malaysia Borneo.
Range:
The species is found in Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, and southern Thailand. The record from Thailand requires confirmation (S. Bumrungsri pers. comm.) as it may not be this species. The species is easily confused with K. intermedia, with which it is probably conspecific. In Sabah this species is known from Imbak Canyon, Crocker Range, Madai Cave, Poring NP, Ranau, Gomantong Cave, Tawau Hill. This species is also reported as a common species in Western and Northeastern Sarawak by Shazali et al. (2018).

Conservation:
This species needs taxonomic revision, however, it appears to be distinct according to local scientists (A. Suyanto pers. comm). It does occur in a few protected areas within its range.
