In the Philippines, the species has been found in disturbed forest and agricultural areas (Sanborn 1952). On Palawan island, it has been reported from cogon grassland at around 60 m asl (Esselstyn et al. 2004) and in secondary forest beside a creek at 450 m asl on Mt. Makiling (Laguna, Luzon) (Heaney et al. 1998, Sedlock 2001). Surveys found the species to be common in old growth forests near streams (P. Alviola pers comm. 2018).

Range:
This species occurs in southern Thailand, Borneo, and the Philippines. In Malaysian Borneo, the species is known only from two localities in Sarawak (Mulu and Usun Apau) and from Sabah (Kinabatangan). In the Philippines, records are from Bohol (FMNH), Cebu (FMNH), Luzon (Aurora (FMNH), Bulacan (Duya), Cagayan (FMNH), Camarines Norte (KU), Camarines Sur (FMNH), Isabela (Duya, BMNH), Laguna (FMNH), Nueva Vizcaya (FMNH), Quezon (FMNH), and Rizal (FMNH) provinces), Mindanao (Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Surigao del Sur (FMNH), and Zamboanga del Norte Provinces), Mindoro (Duya, KU), Palawan, Panay (Heaney et al. 1998, Taylor 1934) Polillo (Alviola 1999), and Sibuyan (Alvarez).
