Habitat:

Pipistrellus imbricatus is an insectivorous bat that roots in small colonies in forests at low elevations. This species forages and roosts in a wide range of habitats, such as open woodlands, over wetlands, farmland, and semi-desert habitats, and in urban areas.

Range:
Pipistrellus imbricatus is known from Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo and the islands of Java, Kangean, Bali, Lombok, Sulawesi, and Lesser Sunda in Indonesia. It has an elevation range from 0 meters to 400 meters above sea level (Kitchener 1990). Records attributed to the species from the Philippines (Palawan) represent Hypsugo javanicus (Heaney et al. 1998).

Conservation:

There are currently no known species-specific conservation initiatives in place for P. imbricatus and the species is known to roost and forage within Pulong Tau National Park, a protected area in Borneo.

Additional research is needed to gather insight into the species population status and trends, distribution, uses and trade, life history, ecology, and threats. Conservation programs are needed that assist in the creation of a conservation action plan that aids in the protection of known roosts and foraging sites of the species. Community awareness campaigns are needed to promote conservation of this species and its habitat.
