Habitat:
The natural history of this species is very poorly known. It has been recorded from Guinea and Sudan woodlands (Rosevear 1965; Grubb et al. 1998), and probably also occurs in dry savanna habitats (see Happold 1987).

Range:
This species has been widely, but patchily recorded over much of West Africa and East Africa, with some records from Central Africa. It ranges from The Gambia and Senegal in the west, through West Africa to eastern Nigeria, it is then distributed from northern Uganda and southern Kenya, through Tanzania, southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, southern Malawi, Mozambique and southeastern South Africa. The range is poorly known and the species might be more widespread.

Conservation:
There appear to be no direct conservation measures in place. It has been recorded from Zinave National Park on the Save River in Mozambique, and presumably is present in additional protected areas. Further studies are needed into the distribution, natural history and possible threats to this widespread but seemingly very poorly known species.
