This species has typically been recorded from areas of primary lowland tropical rainforest (Jacquet et al. 2013), as well as riparian and marshy forest (Nicolas et al. 2004). C. goliath is endemic to rain forests of the Congo Basin (Jacquet et al. 2015) This species has typically been recorded from areas of primary lowland tropical rainforest (Jacquet et al. 2013), as well as riparian and marshy forest (Nicolas et al. 2004). It has been recorded both in undisturbed lowland forest and in areas where selective logging has taken place, indicating some tolerance to disturbance (Goodman and Hutterer 2004; Nicolas et. al 2004). Surveys from Gabon recorded the species between 110-625m asl (Goodman and Hutterer 2004; Nicolas et. al 2004).

Range:
Crocidura goliath is widely distributed in Central Africa. It has been recorded from Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Gabon, Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Jacquet et al. 2013).

Conservation:
Crocidura goliath has been reported from protected areas in Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Central African Republic.
