Habitat:
C. levicula is among the smallest shrews on Sulawesi with average body size of approximately 4.4 grams (Esselstyn et al. 2021). It is found from lower to mid-montane tropical to upper montane rainforests at altitudes up to 2,000 m asl (Esselstyn et al. 2021). There is no information available on whether or not it can adapt to anthropogenic habitats outside of forest.
Range:
The species has been found in the northern part of the west-central area of endemism (Mts. Rorekatimbo and Torompupu, Central Sulawesi Province), in two lowland areas near the boundary between the west-central and south-east areas of endemism (Wasponda and Tolala, Central Sulawesi Province), and in the east-central area of endemism (Mts. Katopasa and Tompotika, Central Sulawesi Province (Esselstyn et al. 2021). It is found across a broad elevational range, from approximately 400 m up to 2,000 m asl (Esselstyn et al. 2021).
Conservation:
It occurs in some protected areas such as Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. Further studies are needed on the distribution, abundance, natural history and threats to this species.
