Habitat:
Field observations suggest that this species inhabits lowland and montane forest and is primarily nocturnal. It has been found in secondary forest, but it is not known whether or not it can adapt to secondary habitats outside of forest. Very little information on its ecology or behaviour is available at the present time.

Range:
This species is thought to be endemic to the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is possibly found on Obi Island (Fabre et al. 2018). On Sulawesi, it has been found from the north-east (Mt. Ambang, Temboan, and Lembeh, North Sulawesi Province), north-central (Toraut, North Sulawesi Province), north-west (Mt. Buliohuto, Gorontalo Province and Mt. Dako, Central Sulawesi Province), west-central (Mts. Balease, Rorekatimbo, and Torompupu, Toare, Tolai, and Sungai Miu, Central Sulawesi Province; Mt. Gandang Dewata, West Sulawesi Province), and east-central areas of endemism (Mt. Katopasa and Peleng Island, Central Sulawesi Province) (Esselstyn et al. 2021). It has not been documented from the south-west or southeast areas of endemism (Esselstyn et al. 2021). It is recorded from near sea level to just over 2,000 m asl.

Conservation:
It is present in a number of protected areas, including Gandang Dewata National Park. Populations of this species should be monitored to record changes in abundance and distribution. Further studies are needed on the distribution, abundance, natural history and threats to this species.
