Family Leporidae |
Family Ochotonidae |
The Order Lagomorpha includes small to medium-sized herbivorous mammals such as rabbits, hares, and pikas. Lagomorphs are characterized by ever-growing incisors (two pairs in the upper jaw) adapted for gnawing plant material, strong hind limbs for hopping or running, and a high reproductive rate. They are found worldwide in diverse habitats, from grasslands and forests to mountains. Lagomorphs play important ecological roles as prey species for many predators and as herbivores that influence vegetation structure and soil dynamics.
