Habitat:
It is strongly associated with wetlands and coastal marshes along the southeastern coast of Brazil. Reproduction is year round; it can produce three litters per year. Males have extremely large home ranges (11,830 m2), about 50% larger than those of females (7,670 m2) (Lacher 2016).
Range:
This species occurs in the extreme southeastern coastal Brazil and eastern Uruguay (Dunnum 2015). The geographical coordinates are 34°S, 54°W up to 29°S, 49°W (Lacher 2016).
Conservation:
The species occurs at least in one protected area in Uruguay (Laguna de Castillos) and at least four in Brazil. Further taxonomic studies of this species are required.
