Habitat:
It inhabits humid plains to 3,000 m in rather compact, loamy and humous soils (Reig et al. 1990).

Range:
This species occurs in the Yungas ecoregion of Tucumán province, Argentina. It appears to have two disjunct populations in the Nevados de Aconquija, the southern extension of the Calchaquies Valleys, and the easternmost mountain range before the Chaco-Pampean flats. One population occurs at about 3,000 m elevation, and the other in the lower Aconquija, between 262 and 469 m (Bidau 2015).

Conservation:
There is no information on any conservation actions in place or needed for this species. This species was listed as Vulnerable on the 2000 Argentine Red List (Ojeda and Diaz 2000) and is currently listed as Data Deficient on the 2012 Argentine Red List (Ojeda et al. 2012).
