This species is known only from the type locality of El Algarrobal, Médanos del Borbollón, Departamento Guaymallén, Provincia de Mendoza, Argentina (Bidau 2015).

This species is considered was considered Critically Endangered in Argentina based on their 2000 national Red List (Ojeda and Diaz 2000) and it is now currently listed as Data Deficient in the 2012 Argentina national Red List (Ojeda et al. 2012).
