Habitat:
This rodent is poorly studied and little is known concerning its habitats and ecology. It is found in forested regions, which are mainly deciduous (Reid 1997). Its biology has not been reported, but is probably similar to Dasyprocta punctata (Reid 1997).

Range:
This species is endemic to Coiba Island, Panama (Patton and Emmons 2015, Gilbert and Lacher 2016).

Conservation:
The island where this species occurs is a protected area. This rodent is considered a threatened species in Panama (R. Samudio pers. comm.).
