Habitat:
This species is a habitat specialist restricted to rocky and stony habitats in the mountains, where bushy vegetation is mainly scarce or entirely absent (Kryštufek and Vohralík 2005). It is an omnivore that appears to have a preference for insects (Spitzenberger 1976).

Range:
Dryomys laniger is endemic to Turkey, where it is found in the Taurus Mountains in southern Anatolia and in a few localities in northeastern Anatolia (Kryštufek and Vohralík 2005). Its presence in southern Turkey has also been confirmed more recently (Gür et al. 2014). It has been recorded between 1,620 and 2,000 m asl (Spitzenberger 1976).

Conservation:
This is species is found in at least one protected area (Ciglikara Forestry Research Area).
