The Family Anomochilidae consists of a small group of rare, burrowing snakes commonly known as dwarf pipesnakes. They are primarily found in Southeast Asian tropical forests, including Borneo and Sumatra. These snakes are secretive and fossorial, spending most of their lives underground or in leaf litter, which makes them poorly studied. Morphologically, they are small, cylindrical, and smooth-scaled, with a blunt head and reduced eyes, adaptations for a subterranean lifestyle. Anomochilidae are non-venomous and feed mainly on invertebrates such as earthworms and soft-bodied insects. Their cryptic habits and limited range make them of conservation concern in their natural habitats.
