Habitat:
This species occurs in many tropical habitats, but prefers coastal and disturbed habitats (Bruna et al. 1996, Schwaner and Ineich 1998). It can be found in areas of dense vegetation, semi arboreal habitats (e.g. pandanus axils, taro etc.) as well as open vegetation, tree trunks and bushes. It is oviparous.

Range:
This species is widespread throughout much of the Oceanic Pacific (Ineich and Zug 1991). It is recorded from the Bismarck Archipelago in Papua New Guinea to the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, and through to Polynesia. It has not been recorded in Indonesia (D. Iskandar pers. comm. 2019). It is found at elevations of sea level to at least 800 m asl.

Conservation:
This species occurs in several national parks in several different countries. Research is needed on the systematics of this complex so that conservation priorities can be better determined. Monitoring and control of invasive species (such as mongoose) is also recommended.
