The order Pertusariales is a group of lichen-forming fungi within the class Lecanoromycetes. Members of this order are primarily lichenized, meaning they form symbiotic associations with photosynthetic partners, usually algae. Pertusariales species are typically crustose lichens, growing tightly attached to substrates such as rocks, bark, or soil. They are characterized by distinctive fruiting bodies (apothecia or perithecia) and produce a variety of secondary metabolites, some of which have ecological or pharmaceutical significance. Widely distributed across diverse habitats, Pertusariales play important roles in ecosystem nutrient cycling, soil formation, and as indicators of environmental quality.
