Family Endogonaceae
Endogonaceae

The Order Endogonales is a group of fungi within the phylum Glomeromycota known for forming symbiotic relationships with plant roots, particularly as arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. Members produce large, often underground spores and are obligate symbionts, relying on host plants for carbohydrates while providing essential nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen in return. Endogonales are widespread in soils and play a critical role in enhancing plant growth, soil fertility, and ecosystem stability. Their ecological importance makes them key contributors to both natural habitats and agricultural systems.
