Habitat:
May be found in small numbers in urban areas, where they can be occasionally predated by cats (S. Solari pers. comm.). It flies relatively low compared with other molossids. In southwestern Peru, it was found roosting on narrow crevices along dry valleys and low hills with low herbaceous vegetation (Aragon and Aguirre 2014); these are similar to those habitats described by Mann (1945).

Range:
Mormopterus kalinowskii is known from the dry Pacific slope of the Andes and the arid inter-Andean river valleys of Peru and northern Chile (Simmons 2005, Eger 2008).

Conservation:
It occurs within three protected areas in Peru (S. Solari pers. comm.). Its conservation requires basic research actions to increase the knowledge on its biology.
