| Family Coryneliaceae |
|
The order Coryneliales is a small group of ascomycetous fungi within the class Eurotiomycetes. Members of this order are primarily saprobic or plant-associated, often forming symbiotic or parasitic relationships with plants, particularly on leaves, stems, or fruits. They produce distinctive ascocarps (fruiting bodies) that are typically dark, globose to flask-shaped, and contain bitunicate asci with septate ascospores. Coryneliales species are mostly found in tropical and subtropical regions, and while they are not economically significant on a large scale, they are important for understanding fungal diversity and evolution within ascomycetes. Their unique morphological and ecological traits distinguish them from other closely related fungal orders.
