Habitat:
It is associated with ponds, creeks and rivers, although it prefers forests that are not too dense. It is mostly terrestrial, and has been found in terrestrial bromeliads and on vegetation 1-3 m above the ground or water. It is an explosive breeder, and lays its eggs in temporary ponds in the forest. It appears to be restricted to primary forest.

Range:
This species is known to be from the Guianan region, from Venezuela through Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana to north central Brazil, (Rondônia, Amapá, Pará, Amazonas, Mato Grosso and Roraima). It can occur up to 300 m asl.

There are several protected areas within the species' range. In Brazil, the mapped distribution overlaps with protected areas, including the Floresta Nacional de Altamira, Floresta Nacional do Amapá, Parque Nacional da Amazonia, Parque Nacional da Serra do Pardo, Parque Nacional Montanhas do Tumucumaque, Parque Nacional Serra da Mocidade, Reserva Biológica de Uatuma, Reserva Biológica do Jarú, and Reserva Extrativista Riozinho do Anfrisio.

Further research is required to fully resolve the taxonomic status of the species, as well as its distribution, population size and trends.
