Habitat:
This species occurs in wet areas, including rice paddy fields, marshlands and pools, in both grassland and forest, often close to human habitation. It can be found in disturbed habitats. It breeds by larval development in temporary pools and rice paddies.

Range:
This species occurs in the Ryukyu Archipelago (Nansei-shoto) in Japan including Kikaijima, Amamioshima, Kakeromajima, Yorojima, Ukejima, Tokunoshima, Yoronjima and Okinawajima islands. It occurs from 10-650 m asl.

Conservation:
This species occurs in a few protected areas.
