Habitat:
The habitat is in low areas in hardwood forests, swamps near rivers and streams, marshes and wet open woods. Eggs and larvae develop in flooded ditches and shallow ponds. Individuals were found in ditches and artificial ponds, suggesting at least a degree of tolerance to habitat degradation.

Range:
This species can be found in the United States of America from the Coastal Plain in southeastern Virginia to eastern Georgia (Conant and Collins 1991).
