Habitat:
It is basically a terrestrial species. It can be found in moist woods, sand prairies, ravines, along streams and swamps, around ponds, and cultivated areas. It burrows into soil when inactive, using its forelimbs. Eggs and larvae develop in flooded fields, ditches, sloughs, small ponds, or other temporary bodies of water. It seems able to cope with at least a degree of habitat modification.

Range:
This species occurs from southern Kansas, to southern Texas, and into central Arkansas (Frost 2021). Disjunctive subpopulations in west central and southwestern Illinois, southeastern Missouri and adjacent Arkansas (Conant and Collins 1991) have been assigned to Pseudacris illinoensis (Frost 2021). Given the closeness of its range with Mexico it could possibly occur in the country, although this needs to be verified.

Conservation:
Conservation Actions In-Place
