Habitat:
It is a terrestrial species which is found in the leaf-litter of primary and secondary tropical rainforests, including flooded forests. It has been found in ponds and flooded areas within forest. It breeds by larval development, and eggs and tadpoles occur in the water.

Range:
This species is widely distributed in the Amazon basin and occurs in French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela. In Venezuela it is known from a single record in Bolívar state, at Reserva Forestal Río Grande, between Río Grande and El Palmar. It occurs up to 400 m asl.

Conservation:
This species occurs in many protected areas including Amacayacu National Park in Letiticia, Colombia (Lynch 2005) and Manu National Park in Peru (Catenazzi et al. 2013). In Brazil, the mapped distribution overlaps with protected areas, including ESEC da Terra do Meio, FLONA de Pau-Rosa, PARNA da Serra do Divisor, PARNA da Serra do Pardo, RESEX do Alto Jurua, RESEX Guariba-Roosevelt and RESEX Riozinho da Liberdade.
